Rick Bardach, Treasurer

Rick Bardach is a resident of Washington, DC for 45 years, the last 12 of which in Southwest DC as a homeowner and resident of Harbour Square.
Mr. Bardach is a tutor and mentor in the Southwest neighborhood and over the years volunteered at Amidon Elementary School, Bowen Elementary school (now Amidon-Bowen Elementary School), and Jefferson Middle School. He recently began volunteering at Jefferson Academy three times a week.
Mr. Bardach is retired from the DC Department of Human Services. During his 24 years in the DC government, he began as a Program & Budget Analyst and then became a Social Services Representative working in the Child Protective Services Division that provided social services to families where there was potential child abuse or neglect. After that he moved to the Income Maintenance Administration where he worked in management, first as a unit supervisor, then as a Section Chief and then as an acting Center Manager.
Immediately after retiring in 1994, Mr. Bardach became Executive Director for the Southwest Community House (SWCH), a small non-profit social services organization, until retiring in 1997.
Since becoming Director at the SWCH, he became very involved in the SW community. Mr. Bardach served in several capacities on the Southwest Neighborhood Assembly (SWNA) including one of its permanent task forces, the Youth Activities Task Force (YATF). Mr. Bardach is currently the Chair for the YATF.
Mr. Bardach was an active volunteer and served as Treasurer on the Executive Board of Directors for the South Washington/West of the River Family Services Collaborative for ten years. Unfortunately, the Collaborative is no longer operating.
Mr. Bardach earned his BSIE (Industrial Engineer) from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
