Courageous Conversations About Race and Equity
In an effort to bring greater racial, economic, and social diversity into our classrooms, the Committee will host a series of six bi-weekly conversations about race and equity in our neighborhood schools. A neutral moderator will lead the discussions to ensure safe and honest conversations. We will draw on the expertise of academics, practitioners, and community members. These conversations will help to break down barriers, challenge our assumptions about ourselves and others, and encourage families to have greater trust in each other and in our neighborhood schools.
In November 2014, the Committee hosted its first courageous conversation at Westminster Presbyterian Church's "Education Sunday".
