2014 Annual Report & Summary
On Monday, February 2, 2015, CBCC held its 2014 Annual Meeting at Friendship Baptist Church and was pleased to disburse over thirty 2014 Annual Reports to those in attendance. The purpose of the annual meeting was to elect new directors to the 15-member board, highlight CBCC accomplishments of its mission in 2014, provide an overview of the community benefits agreements (CBA) secured with the new soccer stadium in Buzzard Point, and to discuss CBCC's focus for 2015.
After approval of the 2014 Annual Meeting minutes, board elections were held to fill two of three open board seats. CBCC is pleased to announce that Dr. Fredrica Kramer and Rev. Ida Moss were elected to the board by unanimous vote. Congratulations to our new board members!
CBCC has four active committees: Community Enrichment, Education, Housing, and Workforce. Each Committee Chair provided an overview of their committee's accomplishments, and CBCC Chair, Rev. Ruth Hamilton, moderated board discussions with attendees. Thereafter, Treasurer Rick Bardach presented an overview of CBCC's sound financial state as of December 31, 2014.
There was productive discussion as the Coordinator provided an overview of the CBA provisions to be received over the next 30 years from DC United, as well as the three community benefits received from the City, which include summer camp, job, stadium use, and fundraising opportunities. CBCC shared that it will host a separate meeting this quarter to obtain community input and ideas on the various ways to implement certain of these provisions.
CBCC is thankful for those who contributed their time, talent and effort to make the meeting such a great success. We especially thank Pastor Little and Rev. McNeil of Friendship Baptist Church for use of their facilities, and Safeway for donating the refreshments!
